New 'Safeway Classic Run the Links 5K' to Benefit Albertina Kerr to be held on August 21


Ever wanted to run on a golf course? Here’s your race. Sign up to run the brand new Run the Links 5K at the Safeway Classic at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club. The race takes place on the cart paths on Sunday, August 21 at 7:15 a.m. Proceeds benefit local non-profit Albertina Kerr, which helps kids, adults and families living with mental health challenges and developmental disabilities. Participants will also receive a weekly parking pass and two tournament passes to the 2011 Safeway Classic.

What:              Safeway Classic Run the Links 5K

When:             Sunday, August 21, 2011, Race starts promptly at 7:15 a.m.

Where:           Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club, Ghost Creek Course

                        12930 Old Pumpkin Ridge Road, North Plains

Register:        $30, online at AlbertinaKerr.org or day of race starting at 6:15 a.m.

After participants register online,  their name will go on the will-call list to pick up tournament and parking passes at any time starting the day after sign up.

Packet pick-up times:

Week of race: August 17-20 Packets will be available for pickup beginning Wednesday, August 17 and will be available through Saturday, August 20 at Will Call (North Plains Elementary School, 32020 NW North Ave, North Plains, OR). Will call is open from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

Day of race: August 21 Packets will also be available the day of the run (Sunday, August 21) at the registration table beginning at 6:15 a.m. (an hour before the start of the race).  

As a longtime partner of the Safeway Classic, Albertina Kerr has provided volunteers and received support from the Tournament Golf Foundation and the Safeway Foundation since 1990. The Run for the Links 5K was created by Safeway Classic tournament director Rob Neal, an avid runner and fan of Albertina Kerr.
