Nike Employee Grant Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation Awards $9,000 to Albertina Kerr

March 24, 2011 (Portland, OR) – The Nike Employee Grant Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation has awarded $9,000 to Albertina Kerr for a safe, healthy outdoor recreation space for kids in Albertina Kerr’s Intensive Treatment Program.

The grant will provide funding for outdoor recreation space including a basketball hoop and backboard, a volleyball set and a tetherball set for boys in Albertina Kerr’s Intensive Treatment Program (ITP). ITP is a secure treatment and education program for youth with developmental disabilities, many of whom have concurrent mental health challenges. The only one of its kind in Oregon, the program provides education, therapy, and life skills training. The goal is for every child to develop the stability and skills to successfully live in the community.

The Nike Employee Grant Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation seeks to help local nonprofits or schools that wish to join Nike in creating positive social and environmental change, primarily through physical activity.
