When Noah first arrived at Albertina Kerr’s inpatient Crisis Psychiatric Care program, he was physically aggressive and disruptive. His attitude screamed, “I don’t want to do this; I don’t want to be here.”
Kerr’s dedicated team of psychiatrists, child and family therapists, nurses, and psychiatric technicians never gave up on him. They leveraged their professional expertise to give him the tools and support necessary to rewrite his story. Today, Noah is thriving. He engages in meaningful interactions at school and home and even reaches out to us to express his gratitude.
Noah’s journey is just one example of the countless lives we touch.
At Kerr, our mission extends beyond crisis intervention; it encompasses the full spectrum of support youth need to flourish. From equipping youth with essential coping skills to navigate life’s stressors and helping them establish healthy routines to assisting them in setting goals, we guide young people towards a brighter future.
Recently, The Oregonian reported a startling statistic: Oregon leads the nation in childhood mental health conditions—one in five young people between the ages of 12 and 17 report struggling with a mental illness. Additionally, Portland ranks first among 30 large U.S. metro areas for young adults experiencing depression or anxiety.
It is clear that the need for specialized care and support for our youth is more critical than ever.
With your help, we can continue making a profound difference in the lives of young people like Noah. Your generosity fuels our mission and enables us to reach more youth in need.
Your gift today will ensure kids have access to Kerr’s lifesaving mental health services.
