Dear Friends of Albertina Kerr,

Each October, during National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we recognize the immense value that workers with disabilities bring to our workplaces and economy. This year’s theme, “Access to Good Jobs for All,” underscores our commitment to ensuring that all workers have access to meaningful employment opportunities.

Moises Segura, who participated in our Project SEARCH internship with the City of Salem, is a shining example of this impact. Over nine months, he gained career-building skills, confidence, meaningful friendships, and a renewed sense of potential. His transformation is a powerful reminder of the life-changing impact our programs can have. Watch Moises’ story here.

We also recently celebrated another milestone: Eight new Project SEARCH participants signed their contracts at Nike World Headquarters. Over the next nine months, with Albertina Kerr’s support, they’ll rotate through various departments, gaining invaluable skills and preparing for successful futures. (Photos: Top row)

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Together for Albertina Kerr, presented by Ferguson Wellman Capital Management and Mary Lago. After five years, it was wonderful to come together in person and online. Your incredible generosity helped us raise over $360,000 for Kerr’s essential programs, ensuring we can continue providing holistic care for youth, adults, and families. I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the B.U.L.L. Session Invitational Charity Events for their incredible support. Their annual September gala and golf tournament united business, union, and labor leaders to benefit local nonprofits, including Kerr’s Crisis Psychiatric Care for Youth. (Photo: Second row, left)

September 8-14, we celebrated Frontline Employee Appreciation Week, honoring our incredible staff—Direct Support Professionals, Job Coaches, Employment Consultants, Employment Coordinators, Skills Trainers, Behavior Specialists, Psychiatric Technicians, Community Support Specialists, and Case Coordinators—who empower individuals to achieve independence and lead fulfilling lives. Their dedication is at the heart of everything we do.

I also recently participated in a virtual Portland Business Journal roundtable about the power of collaboration among women in the workforce. It was an inspiring conversation about how women can uplift and support each other to achieve greater success. Read more about the discussion here. A huge thanks to Candace Beeke, Publisher & President of the Portland Business Journal, and Jessica Getman, President of Brown & Brown, for creating this opportunity.

Thank you for your continued support!

Warmly,
Allison Stark
CEO, Albertina Kerr
